Industry Visit & Extension Activity – Sustainable Fashion

The Department of Fashion Design organized an industry visit and extension programme on sustainable fashion on March 17, 2026, at Talipady Primary Weaver’s Service Cooperative Society Ltd., Kinnigoli, in collaboration with the Fashion Loom Association.

During the visit, students observed various stages of fabric production including yarn preparation, dyeing, loom setup, and handloom weaving, gaining insights into traditional techniques and cooperative functioning.

As part of the extension activity, students conducted an awareness session on sustainable fashion, highlighting the environmental impact of synthetic fabrics and promoting the use of biodegradable materials like cotton, linen, wool, silk, and jute.

The programme emphasized preserving traditional weaving practices while adopting eco-friendly approaches, making it a valuable learning and community engagement experience.
